Welcome to the September 2018 Liv-ex newsletter
Despite the summer holidays, trade activity in August remained steady, matching the volumes recorded in July. The Liv-ex indices posted gains in August and releases from La Place de Bordeaux has been keeping the market busy in September. Opus One 2015, Masseto 2015, Almaviva 2016 and Sena 2016 have now all been released. For price analysis on the wines, head to the Liv-ex blog.

Liv-ex interview with Bill Harlan
H. William Harlan is the owner of several properties in the Napa Valley, including Harlan Estate, Promontory, Meadowood and Bond. Last month, Liv-ex Director, Anthony Maxwell caught up with Bill Harlan to find out a bit more about his vision and how he founded Harlan Estate. To read both parts of the interview, click here.

Updates to Liv-ex beta website
We are continuously adding new features to the new Liv-ex beta website. Last month, we introduced a new page that allows you to manage your positions (bids and offers on Liv-ex). The new page is similar to the My Exposure area on the original site, but is easier to use and has several new features including an option to bulk renew. To find out more, watch our short video here.

Later this month, we will be releasing a new funciton that allows you to bid on Special offers.

Liv-ex creates California 50 index
In August, Liv-ex announced the creation of a new California 50 index. The index tracks the price movement of the last ten physical vintages of five of the most actively traded Californian wines. You can read our latest blog post on the index, here.

In focus: LWIN case study
This month, Liv-ex created its 70,000th LWIN. LWIN – the Liv-ex wine identification number – is a unique seven-digit code that offers a simple and consistent naming convention for fine wines. We previously published a study on how LWIN helped transform operations at LCB Vinotheque. You can read the case study, here.

Liv-ex Team
The Marketing team is pleased to welcome Desislava Lyapova. Desislava is originally from Bulgaria, but has lived in Glasgow for the past four years, where she studied Film, TV and Theatre at university. In her role as Content Marketing Associate, Desislava will be responsible for Liv-ex’s social media accounts and will contribute to Liv-ex reports and blogs.

The Finance team welcomed Reits Elnionis this month. Reits has joined Liv-ex on a Finance Internship for his placement year from university. He is currently an undergraduate at Brunel University where he is studying Business & Management (Accounting). At Liv-ex Reits is helping the Finance team with invoices and answering queries from members

Liv-ex in the news 
This month, the drinks business published an article on Bordeaux’s declining trade share, and the Financial Times warned of the financial risks of chasing scarce Burgundy wines. Meanwhile, Wine Searcher, Barrons and Decanter all published articles on our new California 50 index.
