As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc has been released at €480 per bottle ex-négociant, flat on the 2021 release (€480)

It is being offered by the international trade for £5,760 per 12×75, down 1.0% on the 2021s opening price (£5,820 per 12×75). The volume released was 10% down year-on-year.  

The 2020, 2019 and 2018 vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.  

Critics’ scores  

Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a barrel range of 94-96 points, calling it ‘superb’ and mentioning that ‘it shows quite impressive weight, perhaps more than the Haut-Brion Blanc’.   

Jane Anson awarded the wine a score of 96 points, calling the wine ‘an extremely impressive white’.  

Lisa Perrotti-Brown (The Wine Independent) gave it a score of 94-96 points.  

Fair Value analysis  

Château La Mission Haut-Brion Blanc Market Prices are not significantly correlated to Neal Martin scores, the chosen critic for Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology. At £5,760 per 12×75 for the new release, buyers looking for value might want to consider back vintages instead.   

The 2020 vintage is available at a Market Price of £4,900 per 12×75, a 14.9% discount to today’s release. This vintage was rated 96 points from Neal Martin (Vinous), similar (if not potentially higher) than the 2022.  

The 2018 vintage also received 96 points from Martin and is available at a 14.6% discount to today’s release (£4,920 per 12×75). 

The 2019 vintage also looks attractive. It was scored 94+ points by Martin and is available at a discount of 23.1% to today’s release (£4,429 per 12×75).
