Liv-ex Newsletter – October 2016

By October 11, 2016Member updates

Welcome to the October 2016 Liv-ex newsletter
The fine wine indices continued their upward climb last month, with the Liv-ex 1000 index reaching another new high. Meanwhile exposure on the Exchange – the total value of bids and offers – rose to £40 million.

Liv-ex saw another groundbreaking trade in September when Ao Yun 2013 became the first Chinese wine to see activity on the Exchange. This follows the first Liv-ex trade for English wine in August. Other developments from the month are below.

pearsonLiv-ex interviews
In September, Liv-ex published an interview with David Pearson, CEO of Opus One, the iconic
Californian estate founded as a joint venture between Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild.

In the interview Pearson discusses his experience in the wine industry, the distribution and market for Opus One, the recently released 2013 vintage and his views on the role of Liv-ex.

Liv-ex has also published the first part of an interview with Tim Atkin MW in which he discusses his career in the world of wine, wine writing and the changing role of the critic. The second part, covering the wine industries of Bordeaux, South Africa and Spain, will be published later this week.

You can find both interviews on the Liv-ex blog.

Finance and Logistics APIs launched
This month Liv-ex launched new APIs for finance and logistics. These can be used to help you manage your Liv-ex account from within your own accounting or stock management systems.

The Finance APIs allow you to access account information such as Liv-ex invoices, sales and purchases. With Logistics APIs, you can keep your stock management systems in sync with Vine, allowing you to ship, transfer and assign wines – and eliminating the need to input information manually. Full information and technical documents can be found on the Liv-ex Developer website.
