Liv-ex Newsletter: May 2016

By May 10, 2016Member updates

Welcome to the May 2016 Liv-ex newsletter
Thank you to all who entered our En Primeur survey: your thoughts on the 2015 vintage have been published. Scores from the major critics up on the Liv-ex site, and the first key releases are out – take a look at the Liv-ex blog for price analysis. The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 has also just risen for the fifth consecutive month – the first time it has done so since before the market’s peak. Take a look below to see the rest of April’s developments.

Liv-ex wins Drinks Business supply chain award
On 4th May Liv-ex won the Supply Chain Initiative of the Year award at the Drinks Business’ 13th annual awards ceremony. Liv-ex’s key initiative was the SIB Passport: an electronic certificate issued by Vine to confirm that a case of wine is SIB compliant, i.e.  good quality stock.

The SIB Passport enables faster processing and payment when wine is bought, sold and shipped. Wine is only checked once by Vine’s team, reducing the risk of damage. A Liv-ex member selling wine with an SIB Passport can instantly take advantage of opportunities to sell – on and off the Exchange – because the stock quality is guaranteed. To find out more, please speak to your Exchange Manager.

Chateau Margaux 2015: wine of the vintage
Results of the Liv-ex En Primeur survey are in: Margaux 2015 is your wine of the vintage, Grand Puy Lacoste is your value wine of the vintage for the sixth year in a row, and you anticipate release prices to rise by 18% on 2014 on average.  For full results, click here.

Two updates to the Special contract
In April Liv-ex launched two key updates to the Special Contract:
1) Improved opportunities to trade
– View the terms of the Special contract directly on the Exchange
– Search specifically for the Special you want using the Advanced Search.
2) A new type of Special – ‘Now’
– For cases stored in Vine that are ready for immediate dispatch
– Available for stock that has a valid SIB Passport or photograph.

Update to your Accounts Invoice email
Following members’ feedback, we have updated and improved the Accounts Invoice email. In the new email – coming later this week – you will be automatically logged in to Liv-ex so that you can open invoices and net statements easily. Your net statement will also be attached as a pdf, enabling you to access previous statements from your email archive.

Hong Kong shipment

A reminder that you can buy from Liv-ex and ship straight to your Hong Kong address for a low, flat rate of £22 per 12×75. Read more details here, or speak to your Exchange Manager.
