Critical response

The Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner awarded today’s release a score of 96 points. She noted that ‘Testamatta offers fresh aromas of violet, rose, forest green and candied orange peel. Bibi says 2021 was generally warmer than 2020, but all three vintages—2020, 2021 and 2022—are considered hot. He is upbeat regarding 2023 thanks to all the rain’. Larner further adds that ‘the beautiful results are classic and bright’.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) also awarded the wine 96 points. In her tasting notes she mentions that ‘the medium-bodied palate has a firm, chewy texture with a refreshing line supporting the intense red berry and savory layers, finishing long and minerally’. This results, she writes, in a wine that is ‘beautiful!’.

Jane Anson scored the wine higher with 97 points, and said she loves ‘the sculpting of this wine, it’s just so impressive’.
