Bibi Graetz Colore 2021 has been released through La Place de Bordeaux at €129 per bottle ex-négociant, equal to the 2020 release price

The 2021 vintage is close to being offered at fair value, however the 2018, 2019, and 2020 vintages are attractive options for buyers looking for alternatives. See more pricing analysis below.

Critical response

The Wine Advocate’s Monica Larner awarded today’s release a score of 98+ points. In her tasting notes, she mentions that ‘the wine delivers an elegantly earthy side with a very delineated mouthfeel driven by very fine, silky tannins. This is a beautiful wine with delicately sweet cherry on the finish’. She further notes that ‘Bibi has been making little changes to this wine over the years (other than giving it a new winery home in Fiesole) to capture an ideal or benchmark for Sangiovese. His 2021 is his best wine yet’.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) awarded the wine an impressive 99 points, calling it ‘absolutely stunning!’.

Jane Anson scored the wine 100 points, one of only three wines she awarded a perfect score in her La Place tastings. She writes in her tasting notes that she ‘just [loves] this wine, the lyricism and the generosity of it, and its always vivid depiction of fruits and stones’.

Fair value

Bibi Graetz’s Testamatta Market Prices are 83.3% correlated with age. As the chart below shows, some recent vintages look better value in comparison to today’s release, including the 96-point 2019 and 2020.

However, it’s worth noting that today’s release is very near the Fair Value line and has the highest score of the last ten vintages (even receiving 100 points from Jane Anson).
