Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a barrel range of 92-94 points. He noted that ‘the palate is intense on the entry’ but ‘perhaps there’s not quite the tension of the previous vintage’. He added that the wine is ‘excellent’.

Yohan Castaing (Wine Advocate) awarded the wine 93-96 points. He added that it ‘is one of the finest white wines of the vintage, and one of the few that transcends its limitations’.

James Suckling gave it a barrel range of 98-99 points. In his tasting note he said that it was ‘a deep and layered white with rich and intense structure’. He added that it has ‘so much energy and intensity’ and is ‘fascinating already’.

Jean-Marc Quarin awarded the wine a slightly lower score of 96 points. He noted that ‘the wine develops upwards, constantly fat, towards a long, tasty and noble finish, without marked acidity, just refreshed by mint’. He added that ‘it is superb’.

Fair Value analysis

Domaine de Chevalier Blanc Market Prices have no significant correlation with Neal Martin scores – the chosen critic for the Liv-ex Fair Value methodology.

With several years in bottle and 95 points from Neal Martin, the 2014 and 2015 vintages also might be of interest. They are available at a discount of 26.2% and 33.4% respectively to today’s release.
