Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel range of 94-96, highlighting the ‘open and expressive bouquet’ for what he deems a ‘more sensual Pape Clément.’ With a flavour profile of black fruit ‘laced with graphite and cedar,’ he considers the 2022 ‘quite Pauillac-like in style.’

‘One of the most transparent Pape’s I have tasted,’ said James Suckling, who gave the wine a score of 97-98. He comments on the ‘very structured 2022’ and commends the ‘pure’ profile of crushed stone and currants.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Wine Independent) gave the wine a score of 95-97, commending the ‘rich and impactful’ palate alongside a ‘lively backbone.’

‘Rises to meet the vintage, not overpowered by it,’ said Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux), who rated the wine at 95 points. In her words: ‘a clear sense of future potential.’
