Château Bélair-Monange 2022 released en Primeur 

  • Château Bélair-Monange has been released at £1,700 per 12×75.  
  • ‘I love the detail and delineation of this wine’, said Neal Martin who rated it 96-98 points. 
  • Buyers looking for value might want to consider the 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 vintages.  

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Bélair-Monange 2022 is being offered by the international trade for £1,700 per 12×75, up 25.9% on the 2021’s release price (£1,350 per case).  

The new release is more expensive than any other vintage from the past decade, and it is also potentially the highest-scoring according to Neal Martin. As such, buyers looking for value may want to consider the 2016, 20172018 and 2020 vintages. See more pricing analysis below.  

Critics’ scores  

Neal Martin (Vinous) gave the wine a barrel range of 96-98 points, praising the ‘sense of harmony and completeness’ on the palate. He highlights the ‘supremely focused’ work of Bélair-Monange and deems the 2022 a wine ‘befitting their eye-catching new château building’.  

William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded it 94-95 points, commenting that ‘this is the cuvée in the Mouiex portfolio that shows the ripeness of the vintage the most this year’.  

James Suckling scored the wine a barrel range of 97-98 points, describing it as ‘full-bodied and juicy with dusty and fine tannins that spread across the palate’.  

Jean-Marc Quarin gave it a score of 98 points, praising its ‘intense, fine, fruity, pure, ripe, subtle and complex nose’.

Buyers looking for value may want to consider the 96-point 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2020 vintages, which are available at a discount of 24.2%, 47.1%, 26.1% and 18.8% to today’s release respectively.
