  • Château Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse has been released at £1,440 per 12×75.  
  • ‘A characterful and intellectually satisfying Duffau’, said Neal Martin who rated it 95-97 points. 
  • Buyers looking for value might want to consider the 2015 and 2019 vintages.  

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2022 has been released at €120 per bottle ex-négociant, up 33.3% on 2021 (€90 per bottle).  

It is being offered by the international trade for £1,440 per 12×75, a 33.3% increase on the 2021’s release price (£1,080 per case). 

At this price, the 2015 and 2019 vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.  

Critics’ scores  

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel range of 95-97 points, calling it ‘precise, focused and with plenty of substance’ and predicts it will be ‘flippin’ delicious’. 

James Suckling rated this wine a barrel range of 97-98 points, describing it as ‘full yet poised with finesse and richness while also being bright and energetic’. 

Jean-Marc Quarin scored the wine 98 points, calling it ‘ample on the attack, with an ultra-refined touch on the palate’. 

Meanwhile, William Kelley (Wine Advocate) awarded it a slightly lower score of 95-97+ points. However, in his tasting note he said it ‘promises to be the finest wine that this superb limestone terroir has produced in at least several decades’.  

Fair Value analysis  

There is no significant correlation between Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse Market Prices and Neal Martin scores – the chosen critic for Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology.

Today’s release comes at a premium to others already available on the market. Buyers looking for value may want to consider the 2015, which was rated 96 points by Neal Martin and is available at a 15.3% discount to today’s release.  

The 2019, which received 94 points from the critic and is available at a discount of 34% to the 2022, also looks attractive.
