  • Château d’Issan 2021 has been released at £502 per 12×75.
  • The wine received a score of 90-92 points from Neal Martin.
  • The 2019 and 2020 are among vintages that look better value.

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château d’Issan 2021 has been released at €42 per bottle ex-négociant, unchanged on the 2020’s opening price.

It is being offered by the international trade for £502.80 per 12×75. There are several back vintages that look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.

Critics’ scores

Both Neal Martin and Antonio Galloni (Vinous) gave the wine a barrel range of 90-92 points. Martin said it was a ‘fine Margaux’, though Galloni thought that while ‘quite attractive’ it was ‘lacking both depth and nuance’.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (The Wine Independent) also gave it 90-92 points, while Jane Anson scored it 94-points and William Kelley (Wine Advocate) gave it a 90-93 point barrel range.

Fair Value analysis

According to Liv-ex’s Fair Value methodology, Issan’s strongest correlation is with age.

Therefore, buyers looking for value might consider back vintages. The better-scored 2020 and 2019 vintages look good value, with the 2019 also costing less than the 2021.

Likewise, the 2017 and 2014 vintages continue to offer good value among older wines.

Other releases

Second label Blason d’Issan was also released at €15.60 per bottle ex-négociant.
