Pavie Macquin 2017 has been released at €51.60 per bottle ex-negociant, down 12.2% on the 2016’s opening price (€58.80). UK merchants are offering the wine for £632 per 12×75, a decrease of 12.2% in sterling terms on the 2016 release of £720.

Reports are suggesting that volumes are down 10% on last year due to frost.

Critic scores for Pavie Macquin 2017 were positive. Neal Martin scored the wine 92-94 points and said that it “could turn out to be one of the picks on the Right Bank”. His former colleague Lisa Perotti-Brown MW was more effusive, labeling the wine as “just beautiful”. She awarded Pavie Macquin 2017 a score of 95-97 points.

Today’s opening price of £632 is a slight premium to the price implied by Liv-ex’s fair value methodology. This may not make sense for fans of Pavie Macquin given that the similarly scored 2015, 2008, 2006 and 2014 are all available in the market for less.
