Eglise Clinet 2017 has been released at €168 per bottle ex-negociant, down 25% on the 2016 release of €225. It is being offered by the trade at £2,064 per 12×75, a decrease of 25% in sterling terms on the 2016 release of £2,740 per case.

The volume of stock coming to market is down 25% on the previous year.

Critical reception for this year’s Eglise Clinet has been positive. Writing for Vinous, Neal Martin scored the wine 95-97 points. In his tasting note, he commented that the wine “gets better and better as it opens in the glass”.

His colleague, Antonio Galloni was also full of praise. He remarked that “the 2017 Eglise Clinet is one of the most polished, sensual wines of the year” and awarded 94-97 points.

Prices for Eglise Clinet are 78% correlated to score. Based on today’s release of £2,064 per 12×75, Liv-ex ‘fair value’ methodology places the 2017 above the trend line.

Buyers looking for value might be interested in the equally scored 2006, which carries several years in bottle and is available at a 38% discount to today’s offering. The higher scoring 2015 and 2009 vintages also offer relative value.
