Monbousquet 2016 released

Monbousquet 2016

Monbousquet 2016 has been released at €37.2 ex-negociant, up 10.7% on the release price of the 2015 (€33.6). It is being offered by the trade at £445 per 12×75. In sterling terms, this is an increase of 23.6% on last year’s open price of £360.

Neal Martin described the wine as “bold and assertive” and awarded it 90-92 points, equal to the 2015. Both Antonio Galloni (88-90) and Jane Anson (89) hint at its extracted style, with Anson calling it “a little heavy”.

Prices for Monbousquet are closely correlated to critic scores (Wine Advocate). The chart below shows that the current release is significantly above the ‘fair value’ trend line. Buyers might consider back vintages such as the 2008 and 2010 which are available below fair value.
