Talbot 2015 released – “optimistic”?

Talbot 2015

Talbot 2015 has been released at €38.4 per bottle ex-negociant, up 30.2% on 2014 (€29.5). It is being offered for £400 per 12×75, a 37.9% increase on the 2014 (£290).

James Molesworth scored the wine 90-93 and James Suckling 92-93. In awarding the wine 88-90, Neal Martin was at the lower end of the critics – despite this, he described his score as “optimistic.” He described the wine as “very linear and conservative towards the finish” but acknowledged that “Talbot rarely shows well out of barrel and can improve in bottle.”

At £400, the 2015 is more expensive than six of its previous back vintages. These include the 90-point 2011 and 2012, the latter described by Robert Parker as “a very successful wine”, and available at a 26% discount to Talbot 2015.
