Gruaud Larose 2015: rising

Gruaud Larose 2015

Gruaud Larose 2015 has been released at €46.75 per bottle ex-negociant, up 18.4% on the 2014 release price of €39.5. It is being offered by merchants at £485 per 12×75. This is 24.4% above the open price of the 2014 which first came onto the market at £390.

Neal Martin (90-92) called its purity “commendable” and tannin “fine” but observed: “It just misses that killer blow on the finish and saunters to its conclusion”, adding, “I hope that it gains more in barrel”.

As the chart above shows, this price puts the 2015 among the more expensive of the recent Gruaud Larose vintages in the market: only the 2005, 2009 and 2010 cost more. The more highly scored 2014 is available at a 19.5% discount to the 2015 and might look favourable in comparison.
