Ducru Beaucaillou has been released at €79.2 per bottle ex-negociant, up 20% on 2013 (€66) and up 13.8% on 2012 (€69.6). It is being offered by merchants at £750 per 12×75. At this price, it is cheaper than all back vintages with comparable scores but does not reach the 25% discount on the 2006 and 2008 at which 2014 releases have so far found a market. Is the 8-10% discount on these two vintages enough to warrant their time spent in bottle?

Neal Martin described the 2014 as “another magnificent Ducru Beaucaillou to add to the roster” while James Suckling reported: “Full body, incredibly intense fruit yet this remains compacted and toned with tannins. Long, long finish. What a wine.” He awarded it 96-97 points.
