With much of the trade away, the Liv-ex indices continued to
drift in July. The Liv-ex 50 fell 0.92%, while the Liv-ex fine wine 100 index
fell 0.45% to end the month on 272.98. Full index levels can be seen here.

If there was a trend in July it was lack of conviction. The
First Growths remained under pressure, and provided much of the impetus for the
market’s decline. Other regions have benefitted from buyers diversifying from Bordeaux;
our top five include Champagne and Burgundy. The month’s winner is Cos
d’Estournel, which heads the table with its 2005 and 2009 (a 100-point wine).
