Liv-ex’s most comprehensive index, the Bordeaux
500
, ended the year down 5.1% – the smallest drop of any of the main Liv-ex
indices.  Above we have broken down the
index into its component parts to compare each sub-section’s yearly performance.

With trade for Right Bank wines flourishing in the last
quarter of the year, the Right Bank 100 (which contains new St Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé A
wines Pavie and Angelus) emerged as 2012’s winner, posting a yearly increase of
4.6%. The Right Bank 50, meanwhile, climbed from its low point in July to end
the year in second place, on a 3.2% drop.

With many of the sub-indices having run flat for the last
four months, each posted a more comprehensive rise in December.
