Bordeaux 2009s enter the Liv-ex Indices

By July 12, 2012Uncategorized

The beginning of July saw updates to the Liv-ex Indices as they welcomed the addition of the 2009s. On the Liv-ex Fine Wine 100, low liquidity pushed out several 1990s (Cos D’Estournel, Krug, Leoville Las Cases, Montrose, Pichon Baron) and 2003s (Ausone, Haut Brion, Leoville Barton, Pichon Lalande) in addition to a smattering of earlier vintages. This made way for 15 of the top Bordeaux 2009s, and three Champagnes.

Over on the Liv-ex 50 and the Bordeaux 500 Indices, the 1999s made way for the incoming 2009s.

Finally, the Liv-ex Investables Index had twenty three 2009s added to it. These were the ‘big eight’, in addition to Angelus, Conseillante, Cos D’Estournel, Ducru Beaucaillou, Grand Puy Lacoste, Leoville Las Cases, Leoville Poyferre, Lynch Bages, Mission Haut Brion, Montrose, Palmer, Pavie, Pichon Baron, Pichon Lalande, and Pontet Canet.

The Investable Index tracks the most ‘investable’ wines in the market, and features around 200 wines from 24 top Bordeaux chateaux. Of the possible 2009s that could join the Index, Leoville Barton was the only one not to be added.

The table below shows the wines moving in and out of the Liv-ex 100.
