Le Petit Cheval Blanc 2021 has been released through La Place de Bordeaux at €95 per bottle ex-négociant, on par with the 2020 release price (€95 per bottle)

It is being offered by the international trade for £1,188 per 12×75, a marginal 1% decrease in comparison to last year’s opening price (£1,200 per 12×75).

Critical response

Jane Anson has awarded the wine 95 points and mentions in her tasting notes that ‘white pear, sage, mango and citrus set the tone for this vibrant and juicy vintage of Le Petit Cheval’. She further praises the wine’s ‘lingering finish, great quality’.

Fair value

While today’s release comes at a premium to some of its back vintages, it does offer relative value in comparison to the 2016, 2015 and 2014 vintages. However, buyers looking for alternative options should consider the 2019 and 2018 vintages.

The 2019 looks attractive, with a current Market Price of £1,008 per case and 94 points from Jane Anson who called it ‘an excellent vintage of this wine’.

Similarly, the 2018 vintage is worth considering, given its current Market Price of £1,080 per case. The wine was scored 93 points by Jane Anson and 95 points by Lisa Perrotti-Brown in 2021.
