Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine a barrel range of 91-93 points, highlighting the ‘silky smooth’ definition of a wine that ‘sashays along in style’.

‘Keeps the understated pleasure that Margaux specialises in’, noted Jane Anson (Inside Bordeaux), who scored the wine at 94 points.

James Suckling rated it at 94-95 points, praising the ‘big presence’ and ‘juicy finish’.

Fair Value analysis

According to Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology, Pavillon Rouge’s best correlation is with age rather than score (57.2%).

This means that vintages of Pavillon Rouge tend to rise in value with age, making younger vintages such as the 2019 and 2020 good buying opportunities.

Buyers looking for other options in back vintages may also want to consider the 2016, 2015 and 2014 vintages, which all fall below the fair value line.
