Clos de Papes 2021 has been released at £732 per 12×75, an 1.6% increase on the 2020 (£720 per case).
Jeb Dunnuck awarded this year’s vintage a barrel range of 93-95 points. In his tasting note he commented that ‘while production was down 40% due to the frost, Vincent was able to make a beautiful 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape that readers will love to have in the cellar’.
Jancis Robinson MW was also full of praise. She scored the wine 18 points and commented that it had ‘attractive refreshing acidity’.
Prices for Clos de Papes are 64% correlated with Wine Advocate scores. Although the Wine Advocate are yet to score today’s release, buyers can still use Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology to assess other vintages currently available on the market.
For example, with a release price of £732, today’s release would need a score of 96.5 or above to look compelling.
Buyers looking for other opportunities may want to consider the 2020, 2015 and 2019 vintages.
