Recent trading activity

Bordeaux remained core to trading on Tuesday and into Wednesday. In volume trade, there was activity around the Château Figeac Premier Grand Cru Classe B, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2020. The trade was under Standard En Primeur’s terms but slightly above the original En Primeur release price of £1,892 per 12×75.

Joseph Faiveley, Vosne-Romanee 2020 and Louis Roederer, Cristal 2014 also found the bid.

Lafite’s top traded vintages year-to-date

Château Lafite Rothschild was the most traded brand on Liv-ex in H1 2022. The First Growth’s 2018 vintage last traded at £7,632 per case, slightly below its current Market Price and up 27.2% on its ex-London release price (£6,000).

Lafite’s second wine, Carruades de Lafite, also found the bid. The 2019 vintage last traded at £3,056 per 12×75 – 1.4% below Market Price. It is the third most-traded Bordeaux wine (counted by LWIN11) by volume so far this year.

For the first wine, the 2018 was the most traded vintage, followed by the 2012 and the 2016. As for the second wine, the 2017 was the most traded, then the 2009 and 2019.

The best-performing wine has been Carruades de Lafite 2019 which has risen 19.2% over the past year. It was followed by Carruades de Lafite 2009 (15.7%) and Lafite Rothschild 2012 (15.0%).
