Château Pavie Macquin 2021 released En Primeur

  • Château Pavie Macquin 2021 has been released at £686 per 12×75.
  • The wine has 92-94 points from Neal Martin.
  • The 2018 and 2019 vintages look better value.

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Pavie Macquin 2021 has been released at €57.60 per bottle ex-négociant, flat on the 2020’s opening price. Volumes released are 15% down on last year.

It is being offered by the international trade for £686 per 12×75. The 2018 and 2019 vintages look better value compared to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin and Antonio Galloni at Vinous awarded today’s release a barrel range of 92-94 points.

Martin described it as ‘excellent’ and ‘more ‘vertical’ than usual’. Galloni called it ‘a rich, heady wine’.

William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) rated it 93-95 points. He said that ‘even at this early stage, it’s clear that this has excellent potential’.

The wine also received 93-95 from Jeb Dunnuck and 94-95 from James Suckling.

Fair Value analysis

Buyers looking for value might be interested in the 96-point 2018 and 2019 vintages, which are available for less than today’s release.

The 2014 vintage, which has the same score as the 2021, also offers several years in bottle and costs 27.0% less.
