Château Sociando-Mallet 2021 released En Primeur

  • Château Sociando-Mallet 2021 has been released at £264 per 12×75.
  • Neal Martin gave it 88-90 points.
  • The 2018 and 2019 represent better value among physical vintages.

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Sociando-Mallet 2021 has been released at €22.80 per bottle ex-négociant, down 2.6% on the 2020’s opening price.

It is being offered by the international trade for £264 per 12×75. The 2018 and 2019 vintages look better value compared to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded today’s release a barrel range of 88-90 points, describing it as ‘fresh and saline’.

William Kelley (The Wine Advocate) gave it 89-91 and said that ‘the 2021 Sociando-Mallet is medium to full-bodied, bright and concentrated, with an impressively layered core of fruit, tangy acids and a long, saline finish’.

The wine also received 87-89 points from Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, 91 points from Jane Anson and 92-93 from James Suckling.

Fair Value analysis

Buyers looking for value might be interested in the 2018 vintage, which boasts 93-points from Martin and is available at a 3.4% discount.

The 2019 also looks attractive. With 94-points, it is one of the highest-scoring Sociando-Mallet vintages (post-2005) and costs the same as today’s release.
