Fine wine has enjoyed a remarkably positive year, buoyed by demand for an ever more diverse array of wines away from the traditional pillars of the market as this year’s most traded wines on Liv-ex shows.
The top wines traded by value this year on the Exchange all came from Italy, Bordeaux, Champagne and the US.
Three of these – Italy, Champagne and the US – have enjoyed standout years in 2020, seeing incredible growth in value as a whole.
Italy in particular has seen its share of trade grow from 8.8% last year to 15% this year while the US has gone from being a mere bit part player in 2010 when it accounted for just 0.1% of trade to grow to 2% in 2019 and up to 7% in 2020.
