Joseph Phelps Insignia 2016 has been released at €148 per bottle ex-negociant. It is being offered by the UK trade at £1,920 per 12×75.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW (Wine Advocate) scored the wine 97-100 points. In her tasting note she said, “the palate springs forth with exciting energy, offering loads of red and black fruit layers and compelling herbal sparks, featuring a firm, fine-grained backbone and bags of freshness lifting the finish”. Perrotti-Brown added that “13,500 cases are expected to be made”.

James Suckling scored the wine 98 points. In his tasting note, he said that “the texture and length are fantastic here” and added that it was “an exciting wine”.

Prices for Joseph Phelps Insignia are 75% correlated to Wine Advocate scores. Based on today’s UK release price of £1,920 per 12×75, the 2016 vintage is coming to the market below the line implied by our ‘Fair Value’ methodology. It may, therefore, look like an exciting option for buyers.

The 2013, 2014 and 2015 vintages also look attractive.
