Larcis Ducasse 2018 released – “sophistication and class”

Larcis Ducasse 2018 has been released at €49.20 per bottle ex-negociant, up 2.5% on the 2017’s opening price of €48. It is being offered by the international trade at £594 per 12×75, up 1.5% on the 2017 release (£585).

Antonio Galloni (Vinous) described today’s release as “a wine of total sophistication and class”. He awarded it 94-97 points and added that “there is an element of precision in Larcis that is truly remarkable”.

Other critics also seemed impressed. James Suckling gave it a barrel range of 97-98 and said the wine was “very structured and powerful with bright and electric acidity”, while Lisa Perrott-Brown MW (The Wine Advocate, 96-98) praised its “wonderfully expressive scents” and “velvety tannins”.

Prices for Larcis Ducasse are strongly correlated to critic scores. Based on its release price, the 2018 looks attractive, falling below the ‘Fair Value’ line when any of the ‘Benchmark Critics’ are used.

Despite commanding a slight premium to the 2018, both the 2009 and 2010 are positioned below the implied trend line and might thus appeal to collectors.
