Jane Anson releases Bordeaux 2016 Right Bank in-bottle scores

Jane Anson’s 2016 scores from the Right Bank have now been published on Her report on the Left Bank was published last week.

In her latest report, Anson says that “although there were clear winners over on the Right Bank, as a rule my average points are one or two below the Left Bank”. She went on to say that “there are still some brilliant wines if you know where to look, and Pomerol was a particular highlight”.

Anson’s top-scoring wine was Trotanoy, which she awarded 100 points. In her tasting note, she said that it “has more than lived up to its promise” and added that it “needs to be put away and forgotten about, and then – wow – it’s going to make those lucky enough to own it very happy”.

Trotanoy is the third Bordeaux 2016 wine to receive a perfect in-bottle score from Anson: The Left Bank’s Leoville Las Cases and Lafite Rothschild also received top marks.

Overall, Anson notes that “2016 is still an extremely strong year overall […] but for overall enjoyment, the Left Bank seems to have had the best of the vintage”.
