Sociando Mallet 2017 released

By May 4, 2018Bordeaux 2017

Sociando Mallet has been released at €21.60 per bottle ex-negociant, down 18.2% on 2016 (€26.4). It has come with a recommended retail price of £267 per 12×75. This represents a 15.2% decrease on last year’s merchant offer price of £315.

Neal Martin (Vinous) described the wine as “more showy” than other recent vintages from the estate, and “more refined than [he] was expecting”. He awarded it 90-92.

The Wine Advocate’s Lisa Perotti-Brown was less generous, scoring it 87-89, while James Suckling (91-92) called it “beautiful” and close in quality to the 2015.

Its merchant offer price of £315 is finely balanced against the back vintages. Perhaps the standout in terms of value is the 2014, which is available in the market at a 24% discount to today’s release. Neal Martin scored it 90-92 for The Wine Advocate at En Primeur, and more recently, 90 points for Vinous when tasted in bottle.
