Lascombes 2017

Lascombes 2017 has been released at €49.20 per bottle ex-negociant, down 14% on 2016 (€57.60). It is being offered by the international trade at £601 per 12×75.

The volume of wine being released is down 70% on last year. According to Chris Kissask (Wine Doctor), “The overall yield in this vintage was just 25 hl/ha, compared to 45 hl/ha in 2016, suggesting significant loss of crop to the frost.” He scored the wine 88-90.

Neal Martin diplomatically called it “not bad at all” (89-91). His Vinous colleague Antonio Galloni was a little more generous with a score of 91-94. He described it as a “very promising wine”, adding, “Although Lascombes is not an especially typical Margaux, it is super-expressive today.”

At £601, buyers have several alternative options among the back vintages. The higher scoring 2012 and 2014, both already in bottle, are available at discounts of around 12% on today’s release.
