Lisa Perotti-Brown MW releases Bordeaux 2017 report

Lisa Perotti-Brown MW, Editor-in-Chief and now Bordeaux reviewer for The Wine Advocate, has published her report on Bordeaux 2017 for the publication.

Perotti-Brown notes that “2017 is not nearly as consistently great as 2015 or 2016, but this vintage did produce some extraordinary wines”. Rather than point to any specific appellation, she suggests that “opportunities for greatness are well-spread throughout Bordeaux in 2017” with the best wines coming from acclaimed vineyards. Conversely, she calls some wines from the lower end of the market “pretty dire”.

Like several other critics, Perotti-Brown is full of good words for the dry whites, commenting: “in a word: wow!”

On Friday, we published Jeff Leve’s scores, containing the first potential 100-point reds (for Mouton Rothschild and Petrus). Perotti-Brown has come out with similarly high scores at the top end. Among the reds, both Cos d’Estournel (“truly profound”) and Lafleur (“just magic!”) received 97-100 points while six reds were deemed worthy of a potential 99 – a higher number than any other critic published today.

You can find Perotti-Brown’s full report and scores on robertparker.com, and selected scores on our critic scores page.
