Liv-ex 1000 gains 0.2% in January

The Liv-ex 1000 index – the broadest measure of the market – closed January on 330.99, up 0.2% on the previous month. The Liv-ex 100 dipped 0.1% and the Fine Wine 50 gained 0.3%.

The sub-indices put in a mixed performance. It was a relatively strong month for Bordeaux. The Bordeaux Legends 50 was the top riser, up 2.5%, and the Bordeaux 500 edged up 0.4%. The Champagne 50 also fared well, gaining 1.3%.

The Italy 100 was the weakest index, dropping 1.5%. Burgundy also dipped in January but remains the strongest performer over both one and five year periods.

The Rhone 100 has been flatlining for much of the past year. It inched up 0.3% last month.
