Last week Liv-ex looked at the best and worst performing wines from Bordeaux 2010 since release. Of the wines, two of the 10 worst performers were First Growths Mouton and Lafite Rothschild.
The chart above shows how prices for the 2010 First Growths have varied since release. Lafite’s Market Price has varied the most over time. The wine was released in the UK at a high of £12,000 per 12×75, but in March 2016 it hit a low of £5,300. Its current Market Price of £7,230 represents a 39.7% drop from peak, but a 36.4% climb from its low.
Latour (RP 100) has seen the most improvement and is available for just £300 more than its initial release price. However, the wine is still 9.6% below its all-time high of £12,500 in 2011.
Interestingly, Haut Brion, the other First Growth from the vintage to receive a perfect 100-point score, has a highest ever Market Price (£7,950 per 12×75) below Latour’s lowest (£8,500 per 12×75).
