Pavillon rouge flying the flag

By October 23, 2017Bordeaux, Fine Wine Market, Regions

Several Pavillon Rouge vintages have recently traded higher than during the bull market of 2009-11. On Friday, the 2008 traded at £1,600 per 12×75, 2% above its 2011 peak. It has been climbing steadily since the beginning of 2016.

This is in spite of several mediocre critic scores. The wine received 88 from Robert Parker who downgraded it from a barrel range of 90-92, noting that it “didn’t show quite as well as [he] had hoped”, but describing it as “elegant” nonetheless.

The first wine from the same year, Margaux 2008, remains 34% off peak.
