Four Calon Segur vintages trade at all-time highs overnight

On Monday night (BST), four vintages of Calon Segur traded at all-time highs. These vintages were the 1996, 2002, 2006 and 2012.

Of the four vintages, the 1996 vintage traded at the highest price of £845 per 12×75. The 2002 traded at the lowest price, at £625 per 12×75.

A brand on the rise

Back in 2012, Calon Segur was sold to a subsidiary of the French banking group Credit Mutuel Arkea. Since then, the Third Growth has seen an improvement in market performance and rising critic scores.

Robert Parker previously commented that the 2013 “may mark an historic transition from a consistently excellent-to-outstanding wine, to one that is poised to be another potential first-growth Medoc.”

Over the last five years the Calon Segur index has outperformed the Bordeaux 500, as the chart below shows. It has gained 20% year-to-date.
