Troplong Mondot 2016 has been released at €102 per bottle ex-negociant, a 23.2% increase on the opening price of the 2015 (€82.80). It is being offered by UK merchants for £1,200 per 12×75, up 36.4% on the 2015 release of £880 in sterling terms.

Critics have been positive in their reviews of Troplong Mondot 2016. Antonio Galloni scored the wine 94-97 points, commenting that “the 2016 is shaping up to be a jewel of a wine”. Neal Martin, on the other hand, was unsure, suggesting that it “will either transform into a legend or will topple over by the sheer weight of the tannins”.  He awarded the wine a broader 93-96 points.

Prices for Troplong Mondot are 86.4% correlated to Wine Advocate score. Based on today’s release of £1,200 per 12×75, Liv-ex’s ‘fair value’ methodology places Troplong Mondot significantly above the trend line.

Buyers looking for value might consider the equally priced 2010 vintage. The wine has a 99-point score from Robert Parker and several years in bottle.
