Figeac 2016 released – a new chapter

Figeac 2016

Figeac 2016 was released today at €150 per bottle ex-negociant, up 47.1% on the 2015 release (€102). It is being offered by the international trade at £1,860 per 12×75, an increase of 67% on the 2015 release price of £1,114 per case.

The volume of stock being offered has been reduced by 15% on last year.

Overall, critics have been full of praise for Figeac 2016. It received 19 points from Jancis Robinson, and potential 100-point scores from both Neal Martin (98-100) and Jeff Leve (98-100).

Neal Martin wrote in his tasting note that “this is a property that opened a new chapter in 2013, when Michel Rolland’s services as a master blender have been called upon and engendered far greater harmony between the three grape varieties, now all singing from the same hymn sheet.”

With a price higher than any recent vintage available in the market, today’s 2016 release may seem ambitious. However, with strong scores from critics and a broad consensus that the estate has improved, there is little doubt that Figeac is a brand on the move.
