Quinault l’Enclos 2016 released

Quinault l'Enclos 2016

Quinault l’Enclos 2016 has been released at €23.80 per bottle ex-negociant, a 10.2% increase on the 2015 price of €21.60. It is being offered by the international trade for £285 per 12×75, up 21.3% in Sterling terms on the 2015 release of £235 per case. This is the highest ever opening price for any vintage of Quinault l’Enclos.

Jancis Robinson scored the wine 16.5, noting that the wine is “much better balanced than it used to be” but still “a little bitter on the end.” Neal Martin took a slightly different view, commenting that this year’s vintage is “an almost clinical Quinault l’Enclos that will benefit from five or six years ageing in bottle.” He awarded the wine 91-93 points.

For buyers questioning whether this year’s release price is a clinical as the wine, the 2007 might look attractive. The wine scored 92 points, has several years in bottle and is available at a slight discount to the 2016. Wines from the great 2009 and 2010 vintages are also available for less than the latest release.
