Gruaud Larose 2016 released

Gruaud Larose 2016

Gruaud Larose 2016 has been released at €52.80 per bottle ex-negociant, a 12.8% increase on the 2015 price of €46.80. It is being offered by UK merchants for £620 per 12×75, up 27.8% in sterling terms on the 2015 release of £485 per case.

Jancis Robinson scored the wine 17.5, noting that this year’s offering is “not a blockbuster but very well balanced with lovely length.” Neal Martin, awarding a score of 93-95 points, commended the wine as “one of the most finessed Gruaud Larose in recent years, with perfectly judged acidity.”

The 2016 is entering the market at a price similar to wines of comparable quality, such as the 2009 and the 2010.  Buyers will need to consider whether this release price is as balanced as the wine, or if they would prefer the time in bottle offered by the 2009 and 2010.
