Clerc Milon 2016 has been released at €50.40 per bottle ex-negociant, 17.2% higher than the release price of the 2015 (€43). It is being offered by merchants for £600 per 12×75, up 25% in sterling terms on the 2015 release of £480 per case.
James Suckling awarded a score of 94-95, commenting that the wine was “refined and ultra-fine with a linear and polished character.” Meanwhile Neal Martin remarked that “the palate is adorable: svelte tannin, beautifully pitched acidity, great depth with a silky smooth finish,” scoring the wine 92-94 points.
Liv-ex members rated Clerc Milon 2016 as the third best value wine of the vintage, although this was for wines with an expected release price of less than £500 a case. At this elevated price will the traditional buyers of the wine continue to recognise its charms? The price of the similar scoring, yet more expensive, ’05, ’09 and ’10 vintages suggests they just might.
