Cantemerle 2016

Cantemerle 2016 has been released at €22.20 per bottle ex-negociant, 12.1% higher than the release price of the 2015 (€19.80). It is being offered by merchants for £258 per 12×75, up 22.9% on the 2015 release of £210 in sterling terms.

There has been some variation in critic scores for the 2016. While Antonio Galloni awarded it 89-92 points, James Suckling (94-95) said the wine had “lots going on” and was an “excellent follow-up to the great 2015”. Meanwhile Neal Martin (90-92) said that the wine “has a tightly wound bouquet […] but it does not leap from the glass with joy”.

For buyers looking for value, the 2006 might look attractive. The wine has a score of 92 (Wine Advocate), several years in bottle and is available at slight discount to the 2016. The equally-scored 2011 and 2015 might also catch buyers’ eyes.
