Where prices and points line up

Liv-ex has recently launched Market View – an interactive dashboard with current scores and prices for top Bordeaux wines – exclusively for Liv-ex members. A key feature of Market View is the ability to view regression charts for different wines. These show the correlations between price and either age or score.

Of all the wines on Market View, Latour* currently has the closest correlation between Wine Advocate score and price, at 98.4%.

The 2008 vintage sits exactly on the ‘fair value’ trend line with a score of 95 and currently commands a Market Price of £4,400.

The 100-point 2009 and 2010 vintages fall either side of the ‘fair value’ trend line. The 2010 vintage has a Market Price of £11,000 per 12×75, 8.9% more than the equally scored 2009 (£10,100).

Other wines with strong correlations include Pontet Canet (96.8%), Beausejour Duffau (96.3%) and Haut Brion (95.5%). These are shown in the table below.

Liv-ex members can view all the wines on Market View. For more information on Market View, please click here.

*Latour calculations are based on the 2005-2011 vintages; all the other wines are 2005-2015.
