Leoville Las Cases 2015 released: onward and upward

Leoville Las Cases 2015

Leoville Las Cases 2015 has been released at €138 per bottle ex-negociant, up 43.8% on 2014 (€96). It is being offered by the international trade at £1,475 per 12×75. This is 60.3% higher than the opening price of the 2014 (£920).

Respondents to Liv-ex’s En Primeur survey significantly underestimated the release price of this wine. On average they predicted that it would be released at €112.53, a 17.2% increase on last year. As the campaign goes on, release prices have moved further and further away from early predictions.

The wine has been consistently awarded scores in the mid-90s by critics. Neal Martin (95-97) called it “a superlative Léoville Las-Cases with the substance to suggest long-term aging will be repaid”.

At £1,475, it is priced close to the level of 96-point (Parker) 2010. Buyers seeking value might alternatively look to the 2006 or 2014. Both have comparable scores and are available at 25-40% discounts on the 2015.
