Clos Fourtet 2015 continues today’s releases

Clos Fourtet 2015

Clos Fourtet 2015 has been released at €67 per bottle ex-negociant, up 32.7% on the 2014 release of €50.5. It is being offered by the international trade at £715 per 12×75. This is 45.9% up on the merchant release price of the 2014 (£490).

The wine has received strong scores from a number of critics including Neal Martin (95-97) who called it “Clos Fourtet with breeding and class” and James Suckling (96-97) who described it as “flamboyant with a sexy mouthfeel and rich and delicious fruit. Exotic and more-ish”.

The opening price of the 2015 represents discounts of 62.3% and 22.7% on the 2009 and 2010.

It is interesting to note that although Clos Fourtet 2009 received a perfect 100 points from Robert Parker, it was scored just 92+ from Neal Martin when tasted blind. The 2010 was also rated more highly by Parker than Martin. They scored it 98 and 96 respectively.

For buyers who follow Martin’s reviews, the 2015 might appear to offer value.
