La Lagune 2015 released – enough “sparkle”?

La Lagune 2015

La Lagune 2015 was released today at €32.4 per bottle ex negociant, up 12.5% on the 2014. It is being offered by merchants for £345 per 12×75.

While James Suckling commented that “the finesse and beauty in this wine is really something”, awarding it 93-94, Neal Martin thought the wine was “trying a little hard” and scored it 88-90. Its average score of 92 nonetheless puts it as better quality than many back vintages.

However, buyers looking for value may seek out older vintages instead – the 94 point 2010 is available for just £25 a case more. And if buyers agree with Martin’s view that the 2015 “lacks the sparkle that I discerned in the 2014 last year”, they may turn to its older sibling instead, which is available at £276 per 12×75 and has an average score of 91.
