2015 was a relatively flat year for the Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 – which tracks the price movements of the five Bordeaux First Growths – with its lowest level (261.37 on 20th November) just 4.1% below its highest level (272.54 on 29th June). Having climbed 0.9% in the last week, the index is now at 264.74 – and with one more day of the year left, just 0.8% below the 2014 close.

Despite the Christmas bank holidays, it was an active week of trade, with value up 10.7% on the previous week. It was a strong week for Bordeaux and its First Growths, which took 35% of all trade. Elsewhere in Bordeaux Pontet Canet saw good levels of activity for its 100-point 2009 and 2010, and also for its 2011 – the cheapest of its physical vintages.
