The Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 Index continued to slide this week, dropping 0.6%. Bordeaux’s trade share remained below 80% while activity for Burgundy picked up after several slow months. Trade from “other” regions was strong due to activity for Screaming Eagle 2010 and a number of Port labels.

This week’s table of top traded wines (by value) is dominated by Bordeaux, with Petrus vintages taking three of the five top spots. 96-point Duhart Milon 2010 – “probably better than many of the Lafites of the 1960s and 1970s, and even some of the vintages in the 1980s” according to Robert Parker – also featured.

Once again, Christmas appears to be in buyers’ minds: the table of wines that traded in high volumes is filled with more accessibly priced Bordeaux – and one Champagne brand.
