Yquem 2013

In 2014, Liv-ex members rated Yquem 2013 the wine of the vintage, but the chateau announced in May 2014 that they would be delaying its release. Today Yquem 2013 was released by the international trade at £2,400 per 12×75 (€275 per bottle). As shown in the chart above, this makes it the third most expensive Yquem in the market from the last decade.

Yquem 2013 has received unanimous praise from critics. It scored 95-97 from Neal Martin, who noted that while “it might not possess the finesse of a top flight Yquem, […] it has immense power and persistency.” James Suckling, who awarded it 98-99, was more effusive, describing the wine as “Really superb. A monument to the vintage.”

As the chart illustrates, when considering whether or not to buy Yquem 2013, few will question the quality. Nevertheless, there are several vintages in the market of a similar calibre – and with a better price.
